Build-a-bug

I know, you’re probably thinking of the cheezy build-a-bear company that lets you fabricate bears based on your particular plush toy needs, but this isn’t it:

“BUG makes it fun and easy to build any gadget you can imagine. Build familiar things like digital cameras and GPS locators or create new devices like a LoCamMotion or a GeoPhotoShooter or an Accel-o-Mailer or … the list is endless.”

Quite a fascinating idea and I love that they’ve purposefully built the entire thing to be easy to code. Make your own products incorporating digital and security cameras, GPS systems, LCD screens, etc. Hmm…that gives me a few ideas…

Search by Color, Technique, Elements

Design Meltdown is an interesting site resource for searching for sites by color, graphic elements and techniques (ie. atypical navigations). For the amount of trumpeting the owner does on good design tactics, the site itself isn’t designed well, nor is it user friendly. That said, it still offers a pretty interesting repository for site screenshots that may be helpful when researching or digging for creative ideas.

Simon’s Cat

These videos are hilarious. I love the sound effects for the meows and how natural the cat moves. Any cat owner will realize the subtle idiosyncrasies of the cat and has to appreciate the thought that went into its movement alone.

Anyway, OSFA, of Newstoday, just alerted me to the fact that our labels were featured in the April 2008 HOW International Design Annual (thanks, man!) with the below story included.

Peerless Literature

This week, I (with some help from Mike) installed a new sink in my bathroom. It was fairly easy, except for the coupling nut located specifically to be irksome to lefties. This certainly wouldn’t be worth a blog post except that literature that came with the new Peerless faucet was so funny. Take a look:

They also have an online version, which isn’t as well-crafted or executed as the print piece. The link is below. Oh, and if you’re interested, the faucet came out great. Here’s a picture for all you DIYers out there:

(I’m not exactly sure why the favicon for that site is a 1980s highschool yearbook photo of some dude with a Cosby sweater)
