Major news and media outlets ran stories today to promote the launch of ArthurAshe.org. The official site of Arthur Ashe was designed by my company, ERA404, and commissioned by Ashe’s widow, Jeanne Moutoussamy-Ashe. Here’s a snippit of the news article syndicated to The New York Times, Miami Herald and USA Today (among others):
Honoring Ashe
Family and friends of Arthur Ashe launched his official website Tuesday, marking the 14th anniversary of his death.ArthurAshe.org will offer an array of video, audio, photographs and links related to Ashe, the first black man to win Wimbledon, U.S. Open and Australian Open titles. In 1968, he was the first black to play for the United States in Davis Cup competitions.
”The idea of this website is dedicated to providing a unique resource for the understanding and promotion of the legacy and values embodied in the life and work of Arthur Ashe as a conscience leader, humanitarian, educator and athlete,” said Jeanne Moutoussamy-Ashe, widow of Arthur Ashe.

It’s common knowledge that Light beers are typically marketed to women, so when Heineken (known notoriously for their slogan “Don’t Touch my Heinie!”) released Heineken Light, naturally their target market followed suit. However, the packaging designers took their double-entendre branding one step further with the new labels for the product. Is it just me? or is there something distinctly phallic about this design? I hate to say it, but I feel emasculated by a beer.
I just completed a pretty fun print design project for the Australian Trade Commission’s G’Day USA event. Here’s a short snippit of the press release for this job:
As the idea for the Australian Designers Collection gained momentum, Senior Trade Commissioner David Howard, and his team at Austrade New York, contacted ERA404 Creative Group about designing a printed a designer booklet featuring Australian Designers for distribution during, and following, the event.”We were seeking a company that was professional and is known for providing quality services,” said Austrade, “and ERA404 came highly recommended by a third party.”

This weekend I was surprised and honored to be credited in the new book, Signature Weddings, published by one of my clients, Michelle Rago. I originally designed the conceptual book for her two years ago, through my company, ERA404. The book was published this Winter and is on shelves at Amazon. This is where I first learned of the credit, which states: “Thanks for being my partner in the original pitch! Didn’t change much, did it?“.
Michelle’s sincerity in the quote and care for the credit are both overwhelming. As a side-note, the book is beautiful. She has compiled an amazing resource for brides-to-be, filled with experiences, examples and notes on the process she has created to design and produce some of the most memorable weddings ever. I’m honored to have been a part of it.
We’ve launched a revised version of the Broadway Video site (http://www.broadwayvideo.com/) which no longer incorporates the Flash Meta-Preloader. While the below example is deprecated on this site, it still provides a good example of loading multiple clips from XML.
