The Chalkboard Project

Yet another example of a project created for The Project Museum that got pushed by the wayside. The Chalkboard Project, like the Cell Phone Camera Picture Project, juxtapose user-submitted adjectives and nouns side-by-side to create interesting phrases. The project was originally going to compile complete sentences, but we lost interest when the client said it wasn’t as unique as the Cell Phone concept. Ah well, play around.

Cell Phone Camera Picture Project

Mike and I made a pretty fun widget for JSF a year or so ago, but he never ended up running it on his site. The Cell Phone Camera Picture Project allows users to submit cell phone pictures by email or directly from their phones to add them to a gallery of random photos. The key to the project was to see how the juxtapose randomly with other people’s submitted pictures.

“Heat” Map

July 29 2006 Categorized Under: Code Examples, Miscellaneous Comments: None

I was chatting with Zeh Fernando, and thought of a fun concept to create a flash widget to display areas of unrest in the world. The idea was to have users submit links to news articles about death and destruction and link to a node on a world map. This way people could get a better sense of how much of the world is consumed by war.

I should say that the concept is the only thing fun about this. In reality, this “Heat” Map, derived from the urban definition of heat, isn’t really too fun. If I get enough responses I may push through to complete the project. In the meantime, click the link below to launch the map and click around on it to change spots from black (cold) to white (hot). And if you want to see it completed, just let me know.

Stuff I Hate…

So, blogs are supposed to be cathartic, like laxatives (literally), so I figure I should vent every once in a while about things that bug the crap (figuratively) out of me. Feel free to let me know if I’m looking at any of these things incorrectly or if you have a better viewpoint as to why they shouldn’t be as irksome.
