The Future of New York

As imagined by an unknown artist (c. 1910), the future of New York is filled with low-flying bi- and tri-planes and train trestles that run through skyscrapers. The above postcard is part of the Walker Evans collection of 10,000 currently on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art here in NYC. I recommend visiting by tri-plane as the elevated trestle is normally congested.
Doesn’t this sorta remind you of GM’s Futurama from the 1939 World’s Fair?

Graphics by Alexis Mark

Above is the work of British-born graphic designer and illustrator Alexis Marcou. I absolutely love his style, sense of energy and motion, and even the font (original?).  I found this on Daily Art Press and there are a number of other renderings worth a moment of your time.

Rubens Lp

I’ve recently fallen in love with the illustration style of Rubens Lp, Sao Paulo-based illustrator and industrial designer.  Click the image below to be redirected to his work.

Lady Mac Illustration

ladymacI either have a very low opinion of Lady MacBeth, or am somewhat obsessed with her presence. In highschool, I was in three productions of The Scottish Play and co-wrote two satires (MacBeth Revisited, MacBeth Revisited Revised). I’ve seen the show a number of times and find myself doodling scenes from it from time to time—including this watercolor on wood painting of her reassuring her tormented husband and convincing him to hide the murder weapons. The latest is this vector drawing of Lady Mac retrieving the daggers from Duncan’s chamber and plotting her next move. Sadistic, wouldn’t you say? Either way, your feedback is certainly appreciated.

The Tarot of Chloe

Mike and I finally finished the tarot cards we created for Tina for her birthday. There’s 79 illustrations of which I did roughly 40, ranging in theme from biblical to greek legend to cartoonistic to shakespeare to modern…

The deck is called “The Tarot of Chloe” based on Tina’s alter-ego and will be printed duplex on ultra-white cardstock and wrapped in a black leather carrying case. Read more
