I thought of a funny idea for a t-shirt today that was simple, esoteric and capitalizes on the FML meme that has been creeping across the internet for the last year or so. I googled it, thinking that surely someone else had thought of it first — particularly in the wake of the feature film. To my surprise, it seems original. I doubt I’d be able convince Hanna-Barbera that a kitschy, risqué pun would be worth granting me permission to use their trademark, so I’m publishing it to the web for those who are ambitious enough to do it themselves.

Fun fact: The Smurfs are Les Schtroumpfs in French. 

Creative Shopping Bags

I’m a sucker for creative packaging design. I think that’s the reason my mom sends these forwards to me. There is so much creativity when it comes to these that I’m simultaneously envious that I didn’t think of them and reverential for the designers who did. But maybe that’s how we’re supposed to feel. If, one day, my company is hired by a client to do packaging design, I’m excited to see what sort of creative ideas we can design together.

Sir, this area is just for waiting

After just having returned from a month researching my family in Italy (we were able to trace our family back to 1200 when previously we couldn’t get past 1860), I noticed the prevalence of the green man over The States’ preference for the red word “Exit”. But I also saw a number of signs that I felt were funny. Here’s one for the “waiting area” of an airport. In a place where iconography is especially important due to so many international speakers around, I initially thought this was a sign for the bathroom.
